KTM’s 2017 Super Duke GT makes you rethink what a sportbike is. It’s fast and easy to ride, but has hard bags, a comfortable passenger seat, and suspension that keeps a passenger in mind. The SDGT hates this, it behaves but oil temp climbs 10 degrees to 207F. Today it is 80-81F. Install fuel dongles, disconnecting O2 sensors. The 10 mile ride gets oil temp to 181F considerably cooler. Slow 3rd gear slog and oil temp is 193F, better than 10F cooler.

Instead, you have the keyless ignition - what KTM calls the 'Race-on key,' plus an activated black ignition key. You cannot activate replacement keys for yourself.

Sounds to me as though the solenoid clicks in and that kills the power. That suggests to me either a weak battery, or am excessive current drain, such as a short. So, try a jumper cable directly to the starter motor, briedly. If it doesn't turn over normally doing that, try again with a jumper cable to a good car battery. N.B. I don't own a 1290.
